Junior Association Archives   2007, 2006

Planning Conference 2005 was held at John's Incredible Pizza in Modesto on Saturday, November 5, 2005.  
34 were in attendance.  Voted upon at the meeting were the locations for Cow Camp 2006 (Fresno State) and Cow Camp 2007 (Chico State).  
The upcoming 2006 State Holstein Convention in San Luis Obispo was also discussed, as well as awards and deadlines.

     California was proudly represented by 2 dairy bowl teams, 4 Dairy Jeopardy Contestants and a DJM Semi-finalist to the National Holstein Convention in Portland, Maine on June 25th through the 28th.  Representing California in Jr. Dairy Jeopardy was Case Vyfhuizen, Philip Fagundes and Alissa Arata.  Nationally, Alissa placed 3rd, Philip placed 6th and Case made it to the second round but did not advance in the finals.

     In the Intermediate Dairy Jeopardy, Chris Lopes made it into the second round however he did not advance to the finals.  The Junior Dairy Bowl members were David Jones, Taylor Pires, Jaimie Mancebo and Michael, Captain.  The Junior Team was in the top 5 out of 19 teams.  They beat New Jersey, Utah and Iowa.  The Senior Dairy Bowl Team members were Kari Kronberg, Kristen Kronberg, Christina Sousa and Rebecca Pereira.

     In the first round we beat Michigan with a score of 137-40, they were defeated by Wisconsin, and then with a narrow loss to Washington of 85-75 they were out of competition.  Through we did not place in the top 3 with our California Scrapbook, we did submit one for the first time this year, thanks to our State Vice President Tina Sousa.  We also had a State Banner, and even though it did not place in the top three, California had a banner there.

     The Junior Association was well represented by Distinguished Junior Member Semi-finalist Ms. Lindsey Teixeira.  She was one of only 12 semifinalists in the United States, and we are honored to have her represent the best of the best in the United States.
