2011 State Holstein Convention Highlights!
The 2011 State Holstein Convention was hosted by the Fresno-Madera Club at the Pines Resort in Bass Lake, CA on January 27-29. Thank you to convention chairmen Pat Maddox and Ron Kuber and their committee members for hosting a fabulous convention!Host night on Thursday included dinner and the State Convention Sale. Go to the Sale & Shows page for more information; sale catalog and high sellers.Friday night the Annual Senior Banquet was held. 150 guests enjoyed the evening featuring speaker and meal. Two prestigious awards were given out at the banquet.

California Junior Holstein members had a great time at the 2011 State
Holstein Convention, held January 27-29 in Bass Lake.Convention started off on Thursday with interviews
for numerous scholarships, and the Breeder of the Future Awards, followed by
the Prepared Public Speaking Contest.Thursday evening the junior members enjoyed a pizza
party and Black & White Bunco.Friday featured the competitive Dairy Bowl Contest,
with teams representing Merced County and the Redwood Empire Holstein

At the Junior Awards Banquet, numerous awards and contest winners were presented. The Junior banquet included the competitive Dairy Bowl finals for the Senior Division, Speaker Tony Timmons from Progressive Dairy Solutions, and some impromptu stand-up comedy from junior members!

In the Prepared Public Speaking Contest, 1st Place in the Senior Division was won by Emilie Strand. In the Intermediate Division, 1st Place went to Katie Migliazzo, 2nd to Tony Lopes. Alexandria Loped took frst Place in the Junior Division, Christian Cunningham was 2nd Place.

Dairy Jeopardy Contest:
The convention contests concluded on Saturday morning, with the Dairy Jeopardy Contest. A personal favorite of mine as it combines knowledge, skill, luck and smart wagering!
